New Quilts Exhibited with Sisters in Cloth

Sisters in Cloth has two new exhibits. Our hard-working crew hung both yesterday at the Guilford Public Library, in Guilford, CT. As usual, these dedicated workers did a fantastic job laying out and hanging the quilts to best advantage.

One of the exhibits, It's a Rumor, is described by Diane Wright in her blog. It was kind of like the game "telephone." Diane started it off by making a quilt and reading her artist statement about it to three of us "Sisters." We were then to make a quilt based on our interpretation of Diane's statement. We did not see her quilt, but you can see it by clicking here. Diane's statement spoke to me of architecture and nature in New England. While I frequently make pretty literal quilts, this one is not. I used beautiful hand-dyed fabrics in fall colors from Laura Wasilowski to represent autumn, and squares of geometric black & white commercial fabric to represent Federal style houses.

Read more about the exhibit on the CT SAQA blog.

In my next post I will write about my gray piece.
