Bloggers' Quilt Festival

It's that time again. Amy's Creative Side is again holding a quilt festival. I am entering my iris quilt.

I made this for a Sisters in Cloth collaboration with photographer Rose Alpert, called Double Take: Photo and Fiber.   Each of us "sisters" selected one of Rose's beautiful photos and recreated/interpreted it in fiber. Read more about it and see more quilts on the Sisters in Cloth blog. Better yet, watch the video of the opening at Yale's Haskins Laboratory.

The video shows all the quilts and the 8" detail second quilt we made for the exhibit.

The exhibit is now being presented at its third venue.

I am very pleased with my literal interpretation of the iris. I fused the many fabrics on a piece of muslin; I then spent hours of quilting time. When the exhibits are over, this quilt and the small one will hang in my own home.

This quilt is stunning, Ruth Anne -- one of my favorites of your many gorgeous quilts. I can see why you'd want to keep it close to you.
