One member of Sisters in Cloth is on the board of New Haven Home Recovery, which provides shelter and services for women and their children. One Sisters member recently purchased 50 bed pillows for the shelter residents. However, the pillows can't be bare, so she showed us a very easy method for making pillow cases using a pattern she got from Connecting Threads.
The rest of the Sisters jumped at the chance to 1) make something for a very worthy cause, and 2) use up some of their stash. At last week's meeting, a lovely array of pillow cases was displayed. One member had made 10. Here are two that I have made that I hope will make two kids very happy.
I was amazed at the ease of this pattern. I have made pillow cases before, and even taught children to make them in a kids sewing class. Those were nice, but this pattern is easier, even with the insertion of a nice contrasting strip.

Oh, I've been missing some fun there too. Good job, Sisters!
So bright and cheerful! I'm sure the kids will be as happy to use them as you were to make them!
Heck, Ruthann, These would make ME happy, so I'm sure the kids will be delirious. :) Nice work! Isn't it great to share our stuff and talents?

Yes, Lisa. It is nice to be able to give of yourself.
