Today I was fortunate enough to visit an exhibition at the Yale Art Gallery, "John La Farge's Second Paradise: Voyages in the South Seas 1890-1891"

Here is an image of his book, which gives an idea of the painting:
The art was serene, detailed, and depicted a landscape and life that I can only imagine. Thankfully, artists show us worlds we would otherwise never know.
One thing that I truly enjoyed was the display of La Farges's journals. Some pages were simple line sketches, others complete works of art in themselves.
I have seen Melanie Testa's journals, which are also works of art. In the past I have only kept written journals, but lately I am trying my had at drawing. Another New Year's resolution??
