A lovely surprise email arrived last week: I was one of the winners in Michigan SAQA's blog giveaway. A few days later the promised SAQA catalog arrived, A Sense of Place: Artists Working in a Series and SAQA: Creative Force. (I love the way two exhibit catalogs are featured in one publication).
Note: the actual colors are brighter, but I photographed in gray light without a flash--the flash reflected off the book.
The beautiful fat quarter of fabric was tucked inside the book, which made the prize all the more special. I emailed Mary Andrews, who had send the package to ask if it was she who had created this lovely shibori fabric. It was.
Thanks so much to the members of Michigan SAQA for the lovely giveaway. I have already gone through the catalog several times, gleaning inspiration. The fabric will be used in a very special quilt.

I was contemplating buying this book -- worth the investment? The cover looks great!

And so is the inside, Diane.
