It may be small, but it's nice

I started on one of my challenges for Sisters in Cloth, but I put it on hold so I can be photographed working in my studio by our photographer collaborator, Rose Alpert.

Note to self: Finish cleaning studio!

Instead I made a couple of cards. I'm going to a bridal shower tomorrow and made a card for the bride-to-be. I first tried using a Jane Sassaman print. I really like it but  decided the colors were too somber for shower. The pattern certainly isn't somber, but the color is. That will be for another occasion.

I found in my stash a pretty fabric by Amy Butler that seemed to  be made for just such a use. (Isn't it nice when we have things in our stash that are absolutely perfect for a project? Isn't that the reason for the stash?)

I fused the fabric to a fusible interfacing--not sure if it's Timtex. The stitching and beading on the lovely fabric turned this into a very pretty picture, if I say so myself. I fused the back of the card to card stock, then used a blanket stitch to attach the whole thing to the pink card stock. A nice trim with a fancy rotary cutter blade, a message on the back and voila! Done.

This is lovely. Isn't it nice when things come together and you already have what you need? The beads are a nice touch too.

Well done, Ruth Anne...and have fun with Rose...don't tidy too much and she'll have more to work with. You know "genius at work".

There were a few beautiful cards made by some of the shower attendees, but mine was the only one in fabric.

What a great gift idea -- the bride-to-be must have loved this! You turned the "pretty" into the "beautiful" with your touches -- lovely!
