My donation to the SAQA auction is done and in the mail. Whew!
How it's made:
I used a piece of fabric I painted myself and sprinkled with salt during the drying process, added borders, and needle-felted wisps of silk roving overall. The main fabric design looks like bubbles to me, which are enhanced by the roving. A variegated metallic thread used for quilting helps hold down the needle-felted roving, which is less manageable than wool roving, I found. A double strip of variegated metallic yarn covers each of the two seams. Last but not least are the beads: pink, blue, aqua, and lilac. I hope that they look like tiny bubbles because the name I gave the piece is "Bubbling."
I have been thinking a lot about the Gulf of Mexico and that horrific oil gushing up from the bottom. I wanted to show some things bubbling up are delightful to look at.

It turned out very pretty and just sparkles. Love it and the colors. Perfect "happy" bubbles. What does salt do to the fabric during processing?
They DO look like bubbles! Congratulations on making the deadline AND for making such a beautiful piece of fiber art.

This piece is lovely!
A beautiful piece with positive bubbles! I'm sure you're glad you made the deadline.
It's a beautiful piece Ruth Anne, and I really like the idea of making something beautiful "bubbling up", after reading and hearing about the dreadful oil pollution in the Gulf of mexico.
